It's Poultry Day!

March 19th, 2009

Poultry Day celebrates chicken, turkey and other birds we commonly consume. Chicken and turkey are lower in fats, and cholesterol than other meats, making it better for your health. They also give you your breakfast eggs.

=====================

So many ways to go with this... there are all of the wonderful Character Breakfasts, there's Donald's Restaurantosaurus at Animal Kingdom, there's even the oversized Clara Cluck in the Not-So-Scary Halloween Party parade.

But no.

One poultry item looms larger than all others in the world of Disney.

The Smoked Turkey Leg.

Nothing says vacation like a prehistoric-sized bird leg in your hand. I mean, really, would you walk through your local mall with a Fred Flintstone special like that? Never!

The best locations (for me) are at the cart in Frontierland at The Magic Kingdom, and at Toluca Turkey Legs Co. on Sunset Blvd. at Disney Hollywood Studios. At Toluca, I got a free turkey leg for making turkey gobblegobblegobble sounds at the Cast Member, as part of the Year of a Million Dreams!

So, in honor of the day, we salute you, Giant Smoked Turkey Leg!

Annual Shareholder Meeting

March 10th, 2009

15:20 - Meeting adjourned. Music back on. You've Got a Friend In Me.

15:20 - "Keep going to the movies please. And the parks."

15:19 - Q+A is over.

15:17 - Seniors with grandchildren and great grandchildren are of course important part of customer base. We go out of our way to accommodate multi-generation groups. Pixar film tells great story about young people better respecting our seniors.

15:17 - Any thoughts on promoting or encouraging seniors?

15:14 - Thousands of e-mails received. Made decisions that VMK was not large enough to continue keeping it alive. They had other plans for online virtual worlds that would be more viable and enjoyable.

15:13 - Question about VMK.

15:10 - One more round of questions then adjournment.

15:09 - Very young shareholder asks about when Cars 2 is coming out. Answer: Cars 2, 2011. Toy Story 3, 2010.

15:03 - Kid asked second question for the Board of Directors to sign books for proof of being at the meeting for a class.

15:01 - Second joke about channeling Walt Disney.

15:01 - Kid asked why did Mr Walt Disney create Walt Disney. Answer: Because he loved kids.

14:55 - Comments about Disney and Sea World being up for sale. We are aware of the developments in regards to the ownership of the parks. We do not publicly comment on those that doesn't mean we are interested. In other words they are not interested.

14:51 - Comments on Disney parks in China. Hong Kong doing quite well, pleased with the performances, they have not had second thoughts. No announcements about Shanghai but the frame work agreement between Disney and the Government in order to possible build a park there.

14:41 - A lot of talk about kids getting shares when younger and watching it grow.

14:28 - We do recall your question. Decisions was made that it was not feasible to create a international annual pass. Same with National.

14:27 - Shareholder ask about update on discussion of a National (maybe International) annual park pass.

14:24 - Board does have confidence in Steve's return and wish him good health.

14:24 - "It is not something we are thinking about."

14:23 - "We have not thought of all about the contingency of Steve not being on this board." They are not thinking about Steve selling his shares.

14:22 - Shareholder ask about contingency plan for Steve Jobs and also about his 38 million shares.

14:16 - "We will look into the red monorail, not sure about the Adventures Club." - Iger

14:16 - "AC closed in Orlando, can you bring it to Downtown Disney?" - Shareholder.

14:13 - Floor open for questions.

14:08 - Discussion of the proxies.

14:08 - Shareholder praises Iger for not knocking Barrelli on his rear end :)

14:05 - Back to the "The Path of 9/11". Shareholder was not in the room when Mr. Barrelli presented.

13:55 - Proposal regarding executive pay.

13:51 - Chairmen Pepper is responding to the concern of the Golden Coffin. "We are phasing it out, not being offered to any new executives."

13:47 - "Time to drive golden nail into Disney's Golden Coffin". - Mr. Adams, Shareholder

13:43 - Chairman Pepper defending the Board's decision on "The Path to 9/11".

13:43 - Commotion in the background from Barrelli. Iger supposedly said for him to go f himself and refused to shake his hand (I think that is what I got from his shouting, maybe it was another board member who "said" this to him).

13:42 - Shareholder (Barrelli??) refuses to be "shut down this time".

13:36 - "The Path to 9/11" is being discussed.

13:35 - Business. Nothing exciting.

13:31 - Rules and agenda of the meeting.

13:30 - Unrelated note, D23 website is up now... interesting timing. http://d23.disney.go.com/

13:29 - Expo largest most impressive meeting of all things Disney. Larger then Mousefest 08?

13:26 - Iger talking about D23, online cut into music, guess we don't get to know what it is ;)

The Are You 23 Countdown ends in just under two and half hours from this post. From all the leaks of the magazine and details it looks like it will be a club as I mentioned earlier.
