It's Wiggle Your Toes Day!

August 6th, 2009

Wiggle Your Toes Day encourages you to give your little piggy toes some exercise.

Those ten extremities at the ends of your feet, are crying out for a little freedom. Cramped up inside a pair of shoes or sneakers all day long, your stinky toes just don't get the chance to move about freely, as they would like to do.

Celebrate Wiggle Your Toes Day by airing out your toes, and wiggling them around for all to see. The best place to wiggle your toes on a hot August day, is in the pool. Or, sit on a dock and stick your wiggly little toes in the water.

This day automatically draws me to water. Where else do you have such a GREAT excuse to go Shoeless Joe Jackson in Walt Disney World? Of course, an EASY reference is Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon, but shoelessness is to be expected there. I could also see Splash Mountain in the Magic Kingdom, but I don't think there's enoughof a reason to go footloose.

No, what comes to my mind is Kali River Rapids, at Animal Kingdom. Let's face it... half of the folks on the raft are going to get soaked, and the other half is going to get drenched. The Imangineers even went as far as to add a shoe pen in the center of the raft!

Me? I enjoy riding this in sandals... toes be free!

So, today we salute you, Wiggle Your Toes Day!

At Home Imagineering

August 5th, 2009

There are many Disney fans that are very skillful with home imagineering. It could be a number of things from recreating Main Street from models or creating Cinderella's Castle out of LEGOs, but these videos I found awhile ago really do amaze me. The best thing about this next video set is that you get to see the behind the scenes or what I like to consider as the "magic".

The first video is a recreation of Soarin' all the way from the queue to the large screen. The second video is a recreation of Illuminations including fireworks timed to the music. The third and final video is the behind the scenes explaining how it is all produced.

It's Father-In-Law Day!

July 30th, 2009

Father-In-Law Day honors that loving, funny, and cheerful father-in-law. Okay, so perhaps sometimes he is a little grumpy and intimidating. Regardless of his personality and charms, this day is dedicated to your spouse's Dad. And, he certainly deserves a little recognition.

Good ways to celebrate this day are to send him a card, spend a little time with him, or give him his favorite snack.

=================================

Well. What is this day all about? Celebrating the father of your spouse. And there is ONE attraction that immediately springs to mind with this day... Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage show at Hollywood Studios.

Think about it... the Beast pretty much lives the married man's dream... he gets to imprison his future father-in-law! But, really, in the end Maurice and the Beast's relationship clearly begins on a sour note... and doesn't get much better when Belle agrees to take his place. In the end, however, it looks like they have made up, and even introduced Maurice to the seemingly single Mrs. Potts.

A happy ending, if ever there was one.

So, today, we salute you, Fathers-In-Law, with a showing of Beauty and the Beast - Live on Stage!

Skipper Dan

July 29th, 2009

Well, Weird Al has done it again. Another wonderful song, this time an original. Why an I talking about it here? Because the song is all about the Jungle Cruise. Now, sit back, relax, and enjoy, because I am proud to present: "Weird Al" Yankovic's Skipper Dan.

It's National Hot Dog Day!

July 23rd, 2009

National Hot Dog Day celebrates one of America's favorite summer sandwiches. It is only fitting that this dog gets its day.

Its summertime. Hot dogs are center stage on the grill, and at picnics all across America. They are at the ballpark. They are sold from carts on street corners in every city. It's not hard to find them. We consume hundreds of millions of hot dogs on the Fourth of July alone.

Enjoy National Hot Dog Day to the fullest. Have a couple of hot dogs for lunch or dinner. And, don't forget to cook a few on a stick at the evening campfire.

Well, the easy way to connect with Disney on this fine occasion would be to showcase Casey's Corner... but nay.

This post will showcase how wonderful it is to be grabbing a simple meal in a resort setting... but a resort in flux. How nice it is to sit in the shade of an evergreen tree, to watch the swimmers go by on a ski lift...

Yes, I'm referring to Blizzard Beach!

The alpine-themed Lottawatta Lodge is a great way to take a break from speed slides and tube races, grab a quick bite, and enjoy the scenery... both man made and natural (and in some cases, both together in the same package)!

So, on this hot dog summer day, I salute you, Blizzard Beach!
